Here’s a look at some of the blog posts from the Yankees universe that caught my attention this week. Pretty much everything is about the new stadium.

Firsties: Bronx Banter Blog has (lots) photos and review of the new stadium. I found myself looking at the pictures over and over, just taking it all in. It’s not the old stadium that I know and love, but it is growing on me.

Along the same lines, the Chuck Knoblog had more photos and more of a review in his My Stadium Experience story.

Also, from the new stadium, Scott Proctor’s Arm had photos and some words about the new Monument Park in Bones to pick: Monument Park.

How much it all costs: River Avenue Blues has a list of this years salaries. I did the math and it adds up to a whole lot of money. When the Yankees win the world series this year, I can already hear Red Sox fans saying they bought the championship. Whatever!

And the Yankees have to pay for those salaries and the new ballpark some how. Check out On the economics of Yankee Stadium also from River Avenue Blues.

From The Purist Bleeds Pinstripes, a picture of the old Yankee stadium with all of the grass gone. It really is one of the most depressing pictures that I’ve ever seen. Really don’t need to say anything more, I’m sure all Yankee fans understand my pain.

From The Purist Bleeds Pinstripes, a picture of the old Yankee stadium with all of the grass gone. It really is one of the most depressing pictures that I’ve ever seen. Really don’t need to say anything more, I’m sure all Yankee fans understand my pain.

New Stadium not TV friendly?

Peter Abraham had this quick post this week on LoHud. So not only are there lots of places where you can’t see all of the field at the game, but if you watch it from home, it’s not going to have the same views/quality as the old stadium. With all the money they spent, you think they’d really have done a better job on this. Seems like they really don’t care about the fans, just making more money.

King of Beers reigns in the Bronx.

Also from LoHud, the Yankees will be serving Budweiser products, as well as “beers from around the world” stands. Having had more than a few beers at the old Yankee Stadium, this was very important news to me. However, I’ll never forget the last beer that I had at the old stadium.

New Stadium Photo Update

From the Chuck Knoblog, photos from the new Yankee stadium. I have to admit, it really does look beautiful. I can’t wait to go to a game there. And it almost makes me a little less depressed about the old stadium being demolished.

However, there were definitely some blog posts worth checking out.

River Ave. Blues has a video of the Yankees staff moving their tophies that’s definitely a must watch. I would’ve paid for the honor of moving the World Series Trophies, although I would be pretty nervous about breaking them.

Along the same lines, Sliding Into Home has a photo update of the exterior of the new Yankee Stadium. I’ll admit that seeing photos like that make me a little giddy about seeing the new stadium in person.

I may be the only Yankees fan who didn’t already know, but I stumbled across Phil Hughes’ blog at Yardbarker this week. He gave away an autographed hat that he wore in high school. It’s definitely not every day that you see a player like him interacting with the public like that.

It’s been a pretty crazy week for me – between being sick and my day job, I haven’t had much time for anything else. I’m just now catching up on all of my required Yankee reading for the week. I thought I would share with you some of the more interesting things I found this week. I think this is a section that I’d like to do on a weekly basis with hopefully a more in depth look when my week isn’t so crazy.

Baseball Hall of Fame Thoughts, Part Two : Bernie Williams in 2012!
Jim Rice has just been elected into the Hall of Fame on his 15th (and final) year of eligibility. All right. Bernie Williams should expect to be elected into the Hall of Fame now. Although he of course won’t be.

Yankees invite 20 to spring training
The New York Yankees announced today that they have invited 20 non-roster players to 2009 Spring Training in Tampa, Fla. The list includes four pitchers, five catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders. The total number of players now scheduled to report is 60.

Ken Burns working on update to baseball documentary
Hopefully, most of you are familiar with Ken Burns’s Baseball, a documentary on the history of the game. If not, I suggest you go drop $120 on the box set. While the creator says he’d never revisit any of his other works, he’s currently working on an update to the series. It’s a year away, slated for spring 2010 on PBS, and will be titled The Tenth Inning.
